Regnavit a ligno deus - A god reigned from the wood
The crest remembers the victory gained over the French by the Division when they attacked from the woods of Hougoumont.
The green ground represents woodlands and the trefoil is a pun on the victory gained over the French by the Division when their surprise attack emerged from the woods of Hougoumont. The motto translates as "A god reigned from the wood".

Battalion:C DivisionThe 92nd Gordon Highlanders show the life of the soldiers and their families
within this famous Regiment in the so-called Napoleonic wars, roughly from
1799 to 1815. We portray a Light Company and focus on the Regiment as it was
from 1809 (the Walcheren Expedition and the Peninsula) to 1815 (the Battle of
Waterloo).
Why portray the Gordon Highlanders when we're Sassenachs?

The Belper Volunteers 1803
Battalion:C DivisionThe Corps is part of the Loyal Volunteers Living History Society. We aim to portray local units that were hurriedly raised during what the Prime Minister in 1803 described as; 'An Insurrection of Loyalty'. In Derbyshire there were 56 Corps though in 1808-9 these were consolidated into 5 Volunteer Militia Regiments. We will be holding a few, but greatly enjoyable, musters at local sites within our World Heritage Area with an emphasis on living history.
