In consequence of a wound received in a duel with Captain Thomas Best, Lord Camleford died.
They had been friends, and their last exchange went thus. T.B."Camleford, I hope you are not seriously hurt ?" L'd C."I suspect I am, but I forgive you." T.B."I again declare I am innocent of the charge you made against me." L'd C."I believe you are right, but you had better provide for your safety."
The flint-lock pistols used were Tatham and Egg, saw handled and with octagonal barrels belonging to His Lordship.
