Monday, 28 July 1794
On the 28th of July 1794 in Paris. Maximillion Francois Isdore Robespierre was executed by guillotine. A lawyer from Arras, he rose to become the most important member of the 'Committee of Public Saftey'. Although seen as a ruthless revolutionary his manner of dress and person was that of the Ancien regime.
After a coup d'etat which resulted in his being shot in the jaw, Robespierre and many of his close supporters were sent to that same guillotine that they themselves had kept so busy.
