Friday, 13 October 1815
After trying to invade Naples with 600 men Murat was arrested by troops loyal to King Ferdinand IV of Naples.
Put in front of a firing squad, Murat refused both a chair and a blindfold. Calmly standing in front of his executioners he gave the order. "Soldiers! Do your duty! Straight to the heart, but avoid the face. Fire!"
