Friday, 16 June 1815
Frederick William, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg, Oels and Bernstadt was killed on the 16th of June 1815 at the Battle of Quatre Bras. The Duke had sustained several wounds that day but had only left the action once. He died leading a charge at the head of his troops. A musket ball passed through his bridle-hand into his breast causing death in a few moments.
