When George Bryan Brummell died on the thirtieth of March 1840 he had been living at Bon Sauveur, Calais.
Bon Sauveur was part hospital, part asylum, where more than 350 men and women were cared for by 'The Sisters of Charity'. Brummell was buried in the Protestant cemetery where his brother and sister put up a headstone for him.
