On the 18th of October 1812 Napoleon took the decision to 'Retreat from Moscow'.
Meanwhile..............
Murats cavalry were caught un-prepared. General Denisov and a strong force of Russian cavalry attacked the French Corps of General Sebastiani. The Russians were victorious pushing back their opponants and capturing 6 guns. The French cuirassiers and carabinieers only just ecsaped being totally surrounded.
Murat fell back to Voronovo,
