Battle of Usagre

The battle of Usagre was fought on the 25th of May 1811. So as to stallĀ the AlliedĀ advance after Albuera General Latour-Maubourg was sent back towards the enemy with a force of around 3000 men. They were met by cavalry under General Lumley.
The French divided their Army. Lumley handled his troops with skill. The result was that around 2000 cavalrymen, [Dragoons, Dragoon Guards, Spanish and Portugese] gained a victory with the loss about 20 men, French losses were in excess of 300.
