Battle of Talavera

Friday, 28 July 1809
On the 28th of July 1809 the battle fo Talavera was fought in Spain between the combined British and Spanish forces of Sir Arthur Wellesley and General Cuesta and those of Joseph Bonaparte and Marshal Jourdan. Although victory over the French was achieved almost 1 in 4 British soldiers were casualties.
