The battle of Rab was fought about 70 miles form Vienna between the Austrian Army of Arch-Duke John and a French Army commanded by Prince Eugene. Casualties of 3,000 French and 5,000 Austrians were not high as in many battles, yet Bounaparte refered to this engagement as ,'A grand-daughter of Marengo and Friedland.'
