Fought between Napoleons Grande Armee and the Austrian Army of General Hiller.
Massena launched a frontal attack on the bridge across the River Traun and then on to the Castle. It cost the Austrians around 2000 casualties and 4000 prisoners. Although a French victory Massena had lost 2800 and was severly criticized by the Emperor for such a rash and risky attack.
