Monday, 7 September 1812
The largest battle of Napoleons 1812 campaign was fought 115k from Moscow at Borodino on the 7th of September 1812. French numbers were 133,000 and 587 guns, Russian numbers 120,000 and 640 guns.
The battle opened at around 06.00hrs with 100 French guns fireing at Bagrations positions. Unfortunatly the distance had been poorly estimated and the guns then had to be moved forward.General Auguste de Caulaincourt led the 5th Cuirassiers into the Raevski redoubt and died at the moment of his victory.
Casualties were 30,000+ and 40,000+ respectivly. It was a costly Fench victory.
