Battle of Arroyo dos Molinos

The Battle of Arroyo dos Molinos was fought between the Allied troops under General Hill and the division of the French General Girard.
Hill had about 10,000 horse, foot and guns under his command, Girards division, although also containing all arms was under strength, with only about 4,000 men.
In a swift battle where the inititive was always with Hill, General Girards bagage was captured as was General Bron and 1,000 Frenchmen surrendered at the foot of some cliffs where escape was impossible. The 9th LD and 2nd Hussars KGL pursued their beaten foe 24 miles. The Allied losses were estimated at 7 dead, 64 wounded. French losses were 300 dead 1,300 captured.
General Girard was recalled to Paris by the Emperor.
